From the dawn of time, humans have been running around barefoot as it has always been the most natural way to get from one place to another. As time went by, fashion and hierarchies started evolving and increasing - so did footwear. In the middle ages, only rich people could afford shoes. Following the improvements in materials and accessibility to footwear for the majority of people - being shod(barefoot) became more of a rarity rather than the norm. Fast forward to the present and fashion has taken over the market. Shoes are now more and more narrow and still causing a number of foot problems which are affecting a large number of the population (sometimes unknowingly). If you don’t believe us, ask your granny... she will definitely agree with us!
So, should we walk around barefoot? Definitely not, unless you’re indoors or in safe spaces! The journey to a healthier foot life is to transition and introduce barefoot shoes in your day-to-day life.
Barefoot shoes are manufactured to complement the shape of the foot rather than the other way around. The rounded, ‘banana’ shape is what makes these shoes comfortable and lets your toes splay and move freely without any restriction from the material.
