The whole idea of this website is to:

  1. have a space that gives information about the barefoot lifestyle,

  2. get practical help on how to improve your foot health,

  3. get tailor-made workouts for foot injuries, better performance, etc.,

  4. give you access to barefoot shoes locally in Malta and Gozo, and

  5. help you choose the best training accessories to make your feet stronger.

My Barefoot Lifestyle Journey

There is always a back story before every great idea or life change. Mine started when I wanted to run faster and squat better. However, I was always limited by a very tight ankle which used to cause a lot of pain everywhere in my body.

Sounds like a simple injury, but not quite. After trying different forms of medication which failed miserably, I realised that the issue might be coming from something more permanent. So, I introduced more barefoot lifestyle choices both with regard to footwear and even training.

The changes were doable and I had impressive results, and now I can never look back.

Natural podiatry looks into how the foot works and how we can make it work better rather than let’s make it do what it’s supposed to because we’ve always done it this way. This is very limited and our bodies are all different… so are our feet. So, the way I see it is that a more open approach to treatments and lifestyle will benefit a lot of people.

Professional Background in Foot Health

Being a podiatrist I understood where my limitations were coming from and that once I treated myself I had to start treating my patients differently.

At this point, you might be asking… But why would I go to a podiatrist if I have an issue with my ankle or any other part of my leg? Well, as surprising as it may sound, podiatrists aren’t meant to treat foot and toenail problems only. This is a very common misconception in Malta. My professional background as a podiatrist has helped me understand how the foot works and how it can be the root of any leg pain.

But back to my barefoot lifestyle story. The discovery of barefoot shoes and foot training, and the difference these made for me made me shift the way I help my patients completely. This was not an easy feat however it worked, people loved it and they still do!

An Understanding of Sports

My background in sports and health is of great help in all of this – my aim is to make sure that the individual is fit but above all healthy. You cannot fix problems in the human body without assessing its foundations – the foot!

The idea here is to work in a ground-up system where once the base is strong, mobile, adaptable, and healthy you can then be able to improve other movement systems which are higher up in our skeletal system. It’s like building a house… if the foundation is not strong enough it will not hold whatever you put on it for long. It’s that simple!
